Marjoe Shoes
One of the many brands of shoes available during the 1960’s - 1980’s at DAVIES SHOES was Marjoe Shoes.
Established in the early 1960’s, the brand name ‘Marjoe Shoes’ was derived by the amalgamation of the Christian names of the founders Margaret and Joe.
Marjoe were renowned for their quality and slightly quirky style. Manufactured from the finest leathers and always leather soled. In their Chat Noir range, the leather soles were moulded round the edge by 3-4mm and distinctively sewn to the upper.
This gave the shoe extreme flexibility and neat appearance.
These Australian made shoes were made in Railway Pde. Marrickville, N.S.W. This area had a number of shoe factories, one of note being Riviera who made mens moccasin styled shoes amongst others.
Marjoe ceased trading in about the mid to late 1980’s.
